2017-2 Aachen

The participants of the 2017-2 Aachen Conference

During the Milan conference in June we mainly focused on the concept of students’ involvement, not only in their main fields of studies but also in the development of the University’s community itself. In addition, we discussed the internal organization of IDEALiStiC for the future, to give work continuity over the years.

In Aachen we continued to work on these topics, the latest development in the relation between IDEALiStiC and IDEA League and reviewed the IDEALiStiC Vision Paper IDEA League Universities 2030 – Visions of IDEALiStiC.

During the conference the following workshops took place:

  • IDEALiStiC – self-understanding: IDEALiStiC Board, Rules of procedure, Impact of IDEALiStiC, IDEALiStiC Competition, Elections
  • IDEA League – accomplish more together: New OB policy regarding IDEALiStiC, Student participation and mobility, Promotion of IDEA League activities
  • Teaching 2050 – ideas and visions for a far future: Study duration, Internationalization, Study places, New techniques and technical support
  • University 2020 – short term goals of IDEALiStiC: Interdisciplinary optional subjects, Examination period, Tuition fees, Student population
  • Managing the quality of education during the student life cycle: Quality Management in Teaching and Learning, Balance research and education, Learning Analytics, Campus management system
Decisions
  • We passed the Rules of Procedure with all changes that were presented in the closing plenary. The Rules were accepted by all present university representatives (Aachen, Delft, Milan, Zürich). Sweden was absent.
  • Felix Engelhardt (RWTH Aachen) and Markus (RWTH Aachen) will update / renew the “IDEALeague Universities 2030”-Paper and Lukas Reichart (ETH Zürich) will care about knowledge management in the IDEALiStiC.
  • Aachen will prepare the two conference report version based on the posters and the etherpads made during the workshop phases.
Elections
  • Markus Scheller (RWTH Aachen) was elected PR-Manager by all present university representatives (Aachen, Delft, Milan, Zürich). Sweden was absent.
  • Lars Sturm (ETH Zürich) was elected Co-Secretary General by all present university representatives (Aachen, Delft, Milan, Zürich). Sweden was absent.
  • Marie Sam Rutten (TU Delft) was elected Co-Secretary General by all present university representatives (Aachen, Delft, Milan, Zürich). Sweden was absent.
